Ujjayanta Palace Museum

The Ujjayanta Palace, named by Rabindranath Tagore, is the former royal palace of the princely state Tripura. The property used to be the State Legislative Assembly until 2011 and later made the State Museum of Tripura. Martin and Burn Co. constructed the entire structure under Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya in 1901. A garden inspired by the European style encircled the palace. One can explore the ethnic lifestyle, art & culture, and traditional items of northeast India, along with other artifacts and coinages of the Manikya dynasty.

Fourteen Goddess Temple
Fourteen Goddess Temple

'Chaturdash Devata' or Fourteen Goddess Temple is a popular place situated at Old Agartala (around 14 Km from the Agartala). It is a pilgrimage, well-known for organizing the Kharchi festival in July. Maharaja Krishna Manikya constructed this temple in 1760 AD when he shifted the capital from Udaipur to Old Agartala due to the continued fight with Shamser Gazi. According to popular belief, one who visits this temple once, comes to Agartala fourteen times more.

Neermahal, also known as The Lake Palace of Tripura, is a must-watch place - if you are in Agartala. ‘Manikya Dynasty’, supposed to be the second longest remaining dynasty in the world, possesses this unique water palace in the middle of Lake Rudrasagar. Maharaja BirBikram Kishore ManikyaDebbarma commissioned the British company Martin and Burns to build this spectacular structure in 1921, the summer lodging of the royal family. It offers a unique blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. The marble and sandstone-made dome-shaped miners are the profusion of balconies, towers, pavilions, and bridges.

Unakoti Caves is an ancient Shaivite place in Tripura, known as Angkor Wat of the Northeast. Situated in the Unakoti District, this sculptural emblem is a prime tourist spot in Tripura. It hosts spectacular figures of gods & goddesses, gorgeous rock carvings, and massive rock reliefs of Lord Shiva on a hill of the Raghunandan hills. Unakoti literally means 'one less one crore' or 'koti' in Bengali and Hindi. According to the locals - 99, 99, and 999 idols can be here. Despite having immense historical value, it is yet to be recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Dumboor Lake is situated at Gandacherra Sub Division in Tripura and feeds rivers Raima and Sarma. It is a charming water body, shaped like Dumroo or Damru (a small drum) of Lord Shiva hence getting its name. The massive lake (41 sq. km) offers luxuriant green vegetation all around and 48 islands in it. You can encounter thousands of migratory birds and unique water activities here; it has a rich reservoir of fish. NarkelKunja is a one-of-a-kind island situated in the heart of Dumboor Lake.

According to popular belief, the idol of Lord Buddha in the Vihara was made in Myanmar and was later transported to the present location.
