Explore Losar and Sonam Losar

Losar and Sonam Losar are prominent among the Tamang Community in Sikkim. The festival falls in the spring season and is celebrated with great vigor by inviting friends and relatives. The Gutor Chaam is performed at Rumtek monastery two days before Losar. This performance depicts the battle between good and evil where evil is defeated. Sonam Losar lasts five to fifteen days, varying from place to place.
