Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in South Asia, famous for Phumdi floating over it. The area of this pulsating lake ranges between 250 sq. km to 500 sq. km. The lake is a heaven for biologists. It is located at Moirang, 31.2 km from Imphal. The largest Phumdis (verdant round belt on the surface of the lake) covers an area of 40 kmĀ². It houses the single floating national park in the world, KeibulLamjao National Park.
