Kargil is beautiful and worth visiting in every season, but the beginning and end of winter seem to be preferable times to explore the beauty of the place, other than summer.

Summer

The duration between May to June consists of summer, the best season to visit Kargil. The average temperature ranges between 3°C to 15°C.

Monsoon

The period between July to September constitutes the monsoon months in Kargil with an average temperature of 17°-10°C.

Winter

Kargil experiences the winter season from November to February with average temperature between (-10)°C to (- 14)°C.

How To Reach

By Air

Srinagar Airport is the nearest airport to Kargil, located 204 km from the town. This airport is well-connected with cities like Delhi, Jammu, Leh, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Indore, Bangalore, etc.

By Train

Jammu Railway Station is the nearest railway head from Kargil, located 540 km from the town. Cities like Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Trivandrum have direct trains from Jammu station. One can hire a private vehicle to reach Kargil.

By Bus

There are two routes - from Srinagar and Leh region, from which you can reach here. Daily buses are available from Srinagar and Leh from Kargil, located 204 and 234 km respectively.
