Mathoor Aqueduct

Mathoor Aqueduct is built over the Pahrali River in Kalkulamtaluk of Kanniyakumari. An aqueduct is an artificial channel for passing water as a bridge across a gap or valley. The undulating terrain of the region marks the necessity of such aqueducts. It is a concrete structure supported by 28 pillars, some reaching 115 ft. One can see vast greenery, rolling hills of the Western Ghats in its background, and the Pahrali River flowing below. This popular site is located 60 km from both the cities of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and Trivandrum in Kerala (the capital city).
